We found this set of play shoes at the store. Best. Present. Ever. Seriously, this little girl is shoe crazy, and she's only TWO!

Here she is sharing her new shoes with her brother. We tried to bribe him with a GI Joe or a football, but it didn't work. Oh well, whatcha gonna do?

Good Morning Snow

Woke up this morning to this. And before you say "Big Deal" let me remind you that we live in New Mexico, Four Corners area where our unique weather patterns keep it above 60 degrees F most of the year. We get maybe one snow fall a year on average and that doesn't last much past sunrise.

This is our second snowfall, this picture was taken at 8 am. Today's forecast high 20.

Could it be we will actually have a "real" winter this year?

Today's Daily Cute

I'm not sure how old this one is. I think about 5 years or so. The graininess off the image suggests that it was taken with the webcam, which hasn't worked since we switched to xp, so a while ago.


We tried to tell her the candy would taste better without the box, but I think she was craving the fiber.

PS. Those of you who know what today is, I'm sorry I don't have pictures of the birthday girl. I broke the computer that has all our pictures on it and I haven't taken any new ones yet today. I'll post them tomorrow

Sesame Street Turns 40

It's hard for me to believe Sesame Street and I are only a couple years apart in age. I can't remember a world without Big Bird or Burt and Ernie. My mom told me that when I was little I had a special chair for watching Sesame Street. When I had kids of my own, we had an off and on relationship with the show. Now that our very youngest are able to get something out of it, it's a large part of our daily routine.

I won't write a tribute, there are many around the Internet and we don't need another one. But it's such a huge part of who I am that I needed to mention it.

The show has changed an amazing amount in 40 years. It still teaches the ABCs and 123s, with some bilingual lessons here and there. It's also managed to change with the times, staying entertaining and relevant to compete with the huge bombardment of television our children are exposed to today. When I watched it, it was on one of 3, maybe 4 channels. The other ran soap operas or news programs in the same time slot. Now it's up against who knows how much other stuff on who knows how many channels, not to mention DVDs and video games and so on.

Now, sing along with me! "One, two, three. Four, five, six. Seven, eight, nine. Ten, eleven, twelve. And they all played games... at the Lady Bug Picnic!"
