Life in general

So here's an update for friends and family. Just boring family news so you can ignore it if you want. Really. I won't be offended. You can surf elsewhere. There's a funny cat video going around YouTube. Go ahead....

Still here? Ok, don't say I didn't warn you.

So on the good news, we were able to get my meds. It's hard because it's like $400 a month, and that's with as many generics and Wal-Mart specials we can get. But it makes a TREMENDOUS difference. I can't say it makes me "normal", but at least the pain is controled to the point I can get up and go to the bathroom and my brain is clear enough to be able to read and write a little.

Our new van may be dead already. Our friend in the car biz says he can't track down a transmission. The only option he sees right now is to have one ordered through the dealer, which is painfully expensive. He's not giving up, but for now we're still vehicle-less. He has a line on one he was thinking of getting for the church, which he would let us use until ours is fixed, but it's not near as well-cared-for, so that's up in the air.

We went through a parent's worst nightmare last night. Those of you with kids will understand. About 3 am the baby woke up SCREAMING like she was in pain. With the light off we tried to get her calmed down. When we weren't having any luck, we turned on the light...

Only to find that she was completely covered in BLOOD. Literally, head to toe. After several minutes of sheer panic, reaching for the phone to call 911, we got her stripped down and realized she just had a bad bloody nose. (*Whew*) It still took us a couple of hours to get her calmed down after she was cleaned up - apparently blood freaks her out as much as it does me.

So we got a couple of those coupons for the digital converter boxes that those of use who can't afford cable, satellite, or a digital TV are going to need before February. We got 'em, plugged em in and guess what? We actually get more than 2 channels now! Two of which are PBS! Now, normally, I'm not a big fan of a lot of the pointless stuff on PBS - like Antique Roadshow, bores me to tears. But during the day, PBS is devoted to kids. Sesame Street and about 15 other shows I don't even recognize, but the 2 year old is in hog heaven and he might actually learn something.

The baby is walking now. Well, sort of. She's actually falling more than walking, then screaming a lot because she thinks she needs everyone's sympathy for falling down. If we ignore her, she stops and gets back up again, but it's still a lot of screaming.

So that's the news. Later.

Oh, here's a random picture you may not have seen.
