June 1

The school year is over, graduation is behind us, and summer begins.

This morning, Miss C left for her art class trip to New York. Her art teacher planned this trip especially for her and a few other gifted art students to expose them to as much diversity in the arts as possible before they go on to college. There's no place in the United States with a greater concentration of great works of art than New York City. So they worked out something with Smithsonian Tours, scheduled times with every museum they could find, loaded up, and off they went.

As well as the museums, they're going to do all the "touristy" stuff, like the Statue of Liberty, Central Park, all that kind of stuff. Plus they get to see a Broadway show. I tried to stow away in her bags, but the extra 200+ lbs. as a dead give-away.

Mr. D, caveman drummer.

Mr. D, on the other hand, is not going to have as much fun. He left at 0500 for ROTC camp. Which is basically boot camp. Lots of running, obstacle courses, shooting things... ok, maybe that's fun, but still. He just went to Cloudcroft, though. Still a 6 hour drive, but in New Mexico.

They both get back Saturday, then on Monday they go to church camp for a week!

Wish I could just leave for two weeks.

NEWS BREAK!!! We just got a call, our white van, the one that's been broken down since October is FIXED!!!! Finally! After months of trying to track down the parts, it's done! The Mrs just left to go get it! I sincerely hope it's truly fixed....

That's all for now...
