A nice talk

I just got off the phone with my mom. We had a nice long talk about grandpa. I learned a couple of things that were really interesting.

My grandfather served in World War II. He never talked about it much. He recieved an honorable discharge due to an injury received in the line of duty. A plane crash that messed up his knee. Over the years he had 22 surgeries on that knee.

His siblings are very interesting and I want to learn more. One brother (David? I didn't ask and tried to find him on Google) was poet laureate of the state of Delaware (1956-1960? and 1975-1976?). A Google search turns up many interesting things, including that he was influential in Delaware politics in his later years, so much so that he is taught in classrooms today. I wish I could find some of his writings...

Another brother had cartoons published in Life magazine. I can't find any definitive information on him. Though I did find a cartoon by a Tom Hudson that would have been published at about the right time. I don't know if this is really his, but I'll post it anyway.

Mom, I know you read this and I know you know your uncles' names, so let me know if I'm on the right track. In the coming weeks I'll ask you more when I talk to you.
